Custodian
Qualifications: 1. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Reports To: Superintendent of Education, the Deputy Superintendent, the Director of Maintenance, and the Superintendent's designee.
Job Goal: To provide clean, sanitary facilities and to monitor and perform regular maintenance for the school buildings to which he/she is assigned.
Mission and Goals
- Works with the Superintendent to articulate and promote the school system's vision of learning and teaching
- Monitors and evaluates progress toward accomplishment of system goals and objectives
- Ensures that program plans are consistent with the system's strategic plan
- Organizes daily, monthly, and yearly schedules to facilitate learning and teaching in the schools
Management of Educational Resources
- Administers the finances of the district with sound fiscal management
- Achieves maximum results for available resources and money spent
- Strives to meet the needs of the school district
General Responsibilities
- Keeps buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
- Clears walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as needed
- Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy
- Sweeps and dusts classrooms and furniture daily
- Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it
- Disinfects and cleans toilets, drinking fountains, and bathroom floors daily
- Keeps grounds free from clutter
- Keeps all floors clean and attractive and in a good state of preservation
- Remains on school premises when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by the principal
- Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment on hand and requisitions replacements in advance so that they may be delivered in a timely manner
- Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair
- Moves furniture and equipment as required by the principal for various school functions
- Complies with local regulations regarding the storage and disposal of trash and waste
- Performs minor repairs
- Reports major repairs to the appropriate supervisor
- Performs others duties as assigned by the Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent, the Director of Maintenance, and the Superintendent's designee
Terms of Employment: Ten, eleven, or twelve months. Salary and work year will be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of tills job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel. |
